    Dear Patients,

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months due to the Covid-19 pandemic and all of us are looking forward to resuming and easing back into our normal habits and routines.

While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your health and safety. We want to update you on our office reopening measures and the steps we are taking to keep our patients and team healthy and safe. My team and I have been working hard behind the scenes to stay current on the new requirements and guidelines for restarting our practice. Your safety is our most important priority so we ask that you help us in return with your compliance in navigating all the changes that will occur in the office. We are committed to ensuring that our infection control procedures are current, effective and follow scientific evidence based guidelines.

You will see some new processes when it is time for your next appointment. Please be assured that we have made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. We will be doing a gradual reopening sometime towards the end of May into beginning of June and following strict scheduling protocols and office measures to ensure the well-being and safety of our patients and team members.

    APPOINTMENTS:

We ask for your patience as we begin to reschedule the many appointments that were cancelled. The rescheduling of appointments will occur on a first- cancelled-first-rescheduled basis and we will accommodate for emergencies.

-Patients will be screened using a questionnaire, both when making an appointment and by completing a “Patient Consent Form”  when they arrive. (Link to Patient Consent Form below for printing and completing prior to arriving at the office)

-There will be a limit to the number of patient appointments per day, roughly 25%-50% of the regular appointment load.

-Appointments will be managed to allow for physical distancing between patients. This might mean patients are offered fewer options for appointment times.

    VISITS:

-When you arrive for your appointment, please stay in your car and phone us to let us know you have arrived. One of our team members will advise you when you are able to enter the office.

-Patients are asked to not bring others into the dental practice, unless they are parents or guardians of patients who are minors or are special needs patients. If someone accompanies a patient, they will be asked to wait in their vehicle or outside the office.

-You may be asked to bring a face mask to wear when you enter the office.

-You will be asked to wash your hands with soap and water or use the hand sanitizer we will have available as soon as you enter the office.

-You will notice that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and other items that are difficult to clean.

    – Your temperature will be taken by a team member using a touch-less thermometer. If your temperature is above normal, >37.5C, you will be asked to leave and not return for the required 14-day self-quarantine period.

-A patient screening questionnaire will need to be completed to assess your contacts, travel history and well being. Any answers indicating possible recent exposure to someone with Covid-19 or having signs/symptoms will be asked to leave and not return for the 14-day self-quarantine requirement.

-Maintaining social distancing, 2 meters apart, guidelines in the office are essential.

-Patients will be asked to rinse with a hydrogen peroxide mouth rinse prior to treatment.

    TEAM:

Every team member, including Dr. Schuller, will be required to complete a screening health questionnaire and temperature taken immediately upon arrival at work each morning. An elevated temperature >37.5C or disqualifying answers on the screening form will warrant the staff member to go home, following the same procedure that we would require of our patients.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time.

We look forward to seeing you again soon and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Most of all, thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming you back to our office.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Schuller and Team
